When the clients, already parents to a four-year-old, had newborn twins, all glamour was put on hold. There was, however, area that could bring it back without changing anything structural in their renovated rental - the dining alcove. A vintage Hollywood Regency style six-tier acrylic chandelier hangs above a custom 8-person Chinese jade marble dining table and a durable sisal and jute rug.

The un-moveable built-in sideboard was given new life with a coat of rich black paint, then topped by an agate printed wallpaper back, and illuminated by battery operated buffet lamps, ensuring no landlord backlash would ensue. Wipeable acrylic Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams chairs with custom removable leather seat cushions ensure all members of the family, including the sticky-fingered ones, can eat together. Bon appétit!
